The Department is the site of dynamic creative and scholarly work and, with more award-winning teachers than any other department at UHM, has a demonstrated commitment to teaching at all levels of the curriculum. Cynthia Franklin’s book Narrating Humanity: Life Writing and Movement Politics from Palestine to Mauna Kea was published by Fordham University Press in May 2023. No’u Revilla (faculty), Amanda Huynh (graduate Student) and Tierra Sydnor (undergraduate student) in our department have been awarded Poetry & the Senses Fellowships by the Arts Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley.
